Hints & Tips
Question: How much grass should I cut when I mow?
Answer: Never remove more than 1/3 of your grass height when you mow. Cutting
the lawn too low can severely limit its ability to manufacture food and resist weed
invasion.
Question: Can I leave grass too tall?
Answer: Grass that's too tall can promote thatch build up, encouraging insect and
disease damage.
Question: How often should I mow my lawn?
Answer: Mow frequently enough that only a small portion of green leaf is lost at any
one clipping- ideally once a week so that no more than 1/3 of the leaf blade is
removed.
Question: What happens if I mow the lawn too short?
Answer: The lower portion of the grass is exposed to the sun and this bums it. If this
happens too often the grass reacts by developing shallow roots. Shallow rooted lawns
are prone to disease and weed problems and can eventually die.
